Downloading Offline Content
Read It Later can download your pages so they are available offline.
There are two different views you can choose to download:
Web View
The entire page as you would normally see in your web browser. This includes all images and therefore can take longer to download.
Text View
Just the article text, formatted for easy reading. No images are included which makes downloading faster.
How to Download Automatically:
In the options screen, you can tell Read It Later which content to download when the application is opened. Simply switch the views (described above) that you want to download to 'on'.
Manually:
You can download/redownload individual articles manually in two ways:
Swipe and Download
Swipe across any item in your list to reveal the swipe menu. Tap the download icon to begin downloading the selected article.
Refresh Button
While viewing an article in the reader view, tapping the refresh button in the bottom toolbar will download the current page for offline use. This can be handy if you are reading a specific article and want to finish it offline later.
For Users With Limited Bandwidth:
If you do not have an unlimited data plan, I recommend using two additional options:
Text View
Because the text view contains no images, it's much smaller than the web view. If you need to conserve bandwidth, turn off automatic web view downloads and download them manually when you need it.
Auto Download on Wifi Only
In the advanced options you can set Read It Later to only auto-download if connected to wifi. This way if you open the app while on your limited plan, it won't start downloading anything until you ask it to.
